‘De Putkamp’ in Herten includes a sports hall, fitness centre ’Il Fiore´, Primary school ‘De Stapsteen’ and a number of shops. Together with the community accommodation it forms the beating heart of Herten. The community accommodation is built on top of the sports hall’s changing rooms. The community building has its own, clearly recognisable entrance, but will also have a shared entrance with the sports hall and Il Fiore. The spaces in the new buildings can be adapted to suit the users. They can also be connected to each other via sliding panels.
The sports hall can be divided into three gyms, which can be separated from each other by remote controlled dividing walls. The sports hall is multifunctional. This means that it can also be used for other events, such as a concert. The community accommodation has a large hall for more than 100 people and two smaller rooms, both for approximately 25 people, and a canteen. The community building has an unobstructed view of all activities in the sports hall.
